Selman Marrakech: Morocco's most unique luxury hotel

At the foot of the dramatic Atlas Mountains stands the elegant palace of Selman Marrakech, rising out of the desert. Renowned Parisian architect Jacques Garcia’s designs will overwhelm you with a sensual welcome, from the 55 stunning rooms, suites and villas to the colonnaded portico entrance and the magnificent 80m pool in the manicured gardens and the hotels unique stud farm, home to a private collection of stunning Arabian thoroughbreds.

Selman Marrakech will provide a safe destination for UK travellers in a country with an excellent COVID response, and the potential for a private, secluded retreat in one of the hotel’s 5 luxurious villas.

The entire hotel pays tribute to the elegant Arabian horses that reside in the paddocks and stables. ‘Selman’ was the original sire of a line of purebred horses, and the owners of Selman Marrakech, a Moroccan family, have chosen to recreate this awe-inspiring equine lineage as well as recreate the golden age of Moroccan culture within the property.

Rooms, Suites & Villas

Selman Marrakech has 50 rooms, 5 suites and 5 private villas, all embracing an Arab-Moorish atmosphere with refined textures, fine fabrics and traditional furnishing blending into a warm and homely spirit, with luxury in every detail.

The 50 Superior, Deluxe and Prestige rooms all have terraces overlooking either the pool or the hotel gardens. The 5 suites are elegant and refined, combining Moroccan style with touches of modernity, with a spacious living room and splendid views of the pool or gardens.

The 5 exceptional villas give guests the experience of a traditional Moroccan residence, steeped in elegance. Each peaceful haven boasts a private swimming pool and garden as well as a personal butler available to fulfil every need. The villas range from 580-700m2, with 1 to 2 bedrooms,  living area, Zellige bathroom and 15m private pool - inviting relaxation and wellbeing.  Villa guests will enjoy inclusive round trip airport transfers, fast track service, personalised check-in, VIP welcome, butler service and private entrance.

Room service is available at any time of the day or night.

Culinary Experience

The four restaurants and two bars have been designed by Jacques Garcia. Festive and convivial, there is an eclectic culinary experience to work with everyone’s dietary requirements, health regimes and mood.

Assyl’ offers Moroccan gastronomy in its most authentic and rich form. Majestic decoration and discrete service reinforce the greatness of the cuisine. Dishes blend tradition with modern flavours, with respect and local savoir-faire.

Le Selman’ is primarily an evening venue; chic, opulent and majestic. An international selection of dishes blend market fresh local produce with ingredients from all over the world in a celebration of fusion cuisine.

Le Pavillion’ is the perfect spot for lunch or its famous Sunday brunch - basking in the sun it offers a great view of the paddocks allowing guests to watch the Arabian horses. Focused on Mediterranean cuisine, dishes are fresh and flavourful against a backdrop of the hotel gardens.

The Pool’ offers international and Mediterranean light dishes and cocktails in a relaxed setting by the 80m swimming pool.

Selman Bar’ provides a glamorous and luxurious backdrop for the resident DJ to immerse guests in electro-lounge music and jazz, whilst a range of tapas and sushi accompany the finest cocktails, wines and cigars.

Chenot Spa

One of only 5 hotels in the world to have a Chenot Spa, the facility at Selman Marrakech offers a new approach to regaining rhythm and balance for mind and body. The 1,200m2 spa is reminiscent of a traditional Turkish bath and includes seven treatment rooms, four hydrotherapy rooms, a hydro-massage pool, two heated outdoor pools, a gym and a spa boutique. Guests can enjoy the spa for a few hours or for several days, following the famous Chenot Method, developed over 45 years by Henri Chenot.

With nearly 50 years of research, the Chenot Method® is the scientific and practical framework of the work over the course of the programmes. The success of the method lies in the research-driven approach to the diagnostics and to the way treatments are carefully inter-woven, seamlessly layered and thoughtfully connected. Synergy and connection are the key tenants of the concept.

The Spa programmes can take place over 2-3 days, based on individual assessment. Personalised treatment plans will target specific issues such as anxiety, fatigue and weight amongst others. Alongside the treatments, a specific diet is created and Chenot diet, built around light food such as fruits, vegetables and animal protein, is served in Selman’s restaurants in order to assist the detoxification process.

The Spa also offers traditional rituals such as the classic black soap scrub with a Hammam, and a detoxifying Rhassoul natural mineral clay wrap.

Selman Arabians

Selman Marrakech is unlike any other luxury hotel, thanks to the thoroughbred Arabian horses that it houses. Guests can visit the stud farm and meet the international prize-winning horses. The owners are driven by a real passion for the Arabian breed, one of the oldest and most noble horse breeds in the world.

The stables are fit for a king, also designed by Jacques Garcia like the hotel itself. Grooms delight in showing off the beautiful horses and the Andalusian architecture of the stables.

Selman Marrakech, along with the School of Equestrian Arts of Marrakech, hosts dressage activities, liberty experiences and equestrian shows within the hotel grounds. Guests will have the chance to watch young artists train, as the hotel gives free access to the school to youngsters eager to devote themselves to their passion. The School of Equestrian Arts of Marrakech focuses on the promotion of the Berber and Arab breeds, as emblematic horses of Morocco, and to the training of young Moroccans in the disciplines of classical dressage, aerobatics and liberty.
