Ferring Infertility Media Award (FIMA) 2010 – FINAL CALL FOR ENTRIES

Ferring Pharmaceutical’s Infertility Fertility Media Award (FIMA) is designed to recognise the importance of and excellence in reporting of infertility issues and treatment amongst media, helping infertile couples understand infertility and the treatment options available.

Entry deadline has now been extended until March 31st 2010.

There are two entry categories across consumer and medical media:
• Best written article on infertility (print / web)
• Best broadcast report on infertility (radio / TV / film)

The judging panel will include Professor Julian Jenkins, Ferring’s Director of Medical Sciences and Ferring’s Director of Corporate Communications Helen Gallagher.

Criteria for judging have been pre-set and entries will be assessed against the following:
• Excellence in fertility writing
• Demonstration of clear knowledge of infertility treatment and issues
• Perceived value of article to target audience (educational, impactful)
• Topicality of subject matter

The prize for the winning journalist will be an all paid trip to and entry to ESHRE 2010 (Rome 27th– 30th June 2010) under the sponsorship of Ferring for winners of the two categories.

Ferring lanza el Premio FRIGGA 2010 para estudios sobre infertilidad

La compañía farmacéutica Ferring ha lanzado la segunda edición del Premio FRIGGA 2010, dedicado en este caso a si los tratamientos de infertilidad reducen o no los embarazos múltiples. Estos Premios se convocan cada dos años y obedecen en su nombre a la diosa de la fertilidad en la mitología escandinava. Está centrado en estudios para ahondar en la investigación sobre la reproducción asistida. En el jurado están importantes autoridades en este sector de la Medicina como el profesor Paul Devroey, del Centro para la Reproducción Humana de la Brussels Free University( Bélgica).

Los ganadores de la primera edición de los Premios FRIGGA fueron la Universidad Medical Centre de Utrecht( Holanda) y la Universitair Ziekenhuis de Bruselas( Bélgica). Los estudios se centraron en proponer investigaciones sobre el papel del hCG( human chorinic gonadotrophin) en la reproducción asistida.

Los vencedores de los Premios FRIGGA 2010 se darán a conocer en el Congreso de la ESHRE( Sociedad Europea de la Reproducción Humana y Embriología) previsto en Roma del 27 al 30 de junio. El plazo de entrega de los proyectos será el 31 de marzo de 2010.

Asimismo se ha convocado los Premios FIMA 2010 para el mejor artículo sobre infertilidad y el mejor reportaje en televisión.
