San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium: New Data Adds to the Debate on Combining Therapies in Hormone-Sensitive Breast Cancer

The potential benefit of combining therapies in hormone–sensitive breast cancer is coming under renewed scrutiny. Hormone therapies are typically used alone and in sequence because combination with a second agent has not so far been shown to provide additional benefit. New data is emerging to suggest that combining two agents may indeed be the way ahead, and key presentations at the recent San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (December 6th - 10th, 2011) added to the debate.

Rob Coleman (University of Sheffield, UK) was at San Antonio, and on the EJC Hormone Receptor Positive Resource Centre, he discusses with Helen Saul the implications of the latest results.

The EJC’s Resource Centre on Hormone Receptor Positive Breast Cancer draws together original research and review articles published in the EJC and other oncology journals on this important topic for our readers. Updated weekly, the resource centre also includes news and expert views and opinion on the treatment and management of hormone receptor positive breast cancer.
