Hodder Children’s Books, an imprint of the Hachette Children’s Group, is delighted to announce the acquisition of a new young fiction series from Olympic and World champion track and field athlete, Jessica Ennis-Hill, CBE.
Inspired by her young family, Jessica Ennis-Hill has written this magical new series in collaboration with children’s author Elen Caldecott. Evie’s Magic Bracelet will launch with The Silver Unicorn in March 2017, with three further titles publishing in 2017 and three in 2018.
Jessica Ennis-Hill comments: ‘I have so many great memories of being a little girl. My friends and I spent lots of time exploring and having adventures where my imagination used to run riot! It has been so much fun working with Elen to go back to that world of stories and imagination and share it with readers. I very much hope that the books will inspire and encourage them to look for the magic in everyday life.’
Jessica has been named as an ambassador for World Book Day and comments, ‘It is a real honour to be a World Book Day ambassador helping to promote the great work the charity does to encourage reading for pleasure – I love to read to my son and believe reading together is a very precious and important thing.’
Anne McNeil, Senior Publisher, Hodder Children’s Books comments: ‘I am delighted to welcome Jessica Ennis-Hill to Hodder Children’s Books. Together, Jessica and Elen Caldecott have created a wonderful series that will appeal to readers with its strong and inspiring message: that with a bit of determination and friends by your side, anything is possible. Jessica has already inspired a generation of young people with her incredible sporting achievements and is set to do the same with Evie’s Magic Bracelet.’
About Evie’s Magic Bracelet series: Evie is sent a beautiful bracelet by her Grandma Iris in Jamaica. But the bracelet isn’t just beautiful, it’s magical too, and allows her to see and use magic all around her, starting by allowing her to talk to animals in The Silver Unicorn. These stories will inspire children to believe in themselves and have the determination to reach their full potential. For readers aged 5–7 years, the books will be illustrated in black and white by Erica-Jane Waters.
